Defense Insider Threat Management Analysis Center (DITMAC) - Behavioral Threat Analysis Center (BTAC) - Threat Assessment Team

Dr. Kristin Schneider is an operational and clinical psychologist who conducts behavioral threat assessments for the Defense Insider Threat Management and Analysis Center (DITMAC) as a member of the multidisciplinary Behavioral Threat Analysis Center (BTAC) team. She is an active member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and ATAP Certified Threat Manager (CTM). In her clinical practice, she specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of post-traumatic stress (PTS), personality pathology, non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), and suicidality. She completed her doctoral studies in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke University, residency at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Miami, FL, and postdoctoral fellowship in evidence-based psychological treatments for PTS at the VA in San Diego, CA. For the past 15 years, Dr. Schneider has led behavioral science research for the Department of Defense (DOD), including predictive behavioral analytics for the United States Air Force and personnel security and insider threat research for the DOD Personnel and Security Research Center (PERSEREC) in Monterey, CA. She previously co-managed the Threat Lab at PERSEREC and has served as the Editor-in-Chief of Counter-Insider Threat Research and Practice (CITRAP), an online, unclassified, open-access, peer-reviewed journal. Her interests include behavioral threat assessment and management, insider threat, structured professional judgment (SPJ) tools, military accession screening and assessment, and the prevention of suicide, sexual assault, and targeted violence.
